WISE Conference

Held each February, WISE (Workshop on Intercultural Skills Enhancement) is the premier conference focused on intercultural learning during study abroad and other forms of international travel. WISE is a practitioner's conference focused on helping faculty leaders, program coordinators, student advisors, and other faculty and staff develop the knowledge and skills they need in order to help study abroad students, including international students who "study abroad" in the U.S. or another country, develop intercultural skills and awareness. Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI)

The IDI® assesses intercultural competence—the capability to shift cultural perspective and appropriately adapt behavior to cultural differences and commonalities. Intercultural competence has been identified as a critical capability in a number of studies focusing on overseas effectiveness of international sojourners, international business adaptation and job performance, international student adjustment, international transfer of technology and information, international study abroad and inter-ethnic relations within nations.
