Members of the American Council on Education (ACE) Internationalization Laboratory made a visit to campus to meet with groups of administrators, faculty and staff.

Funding for Faculty

  • Global Engagement (GE) Course Development Awards - Awards are available for faculty to modify an existing course, a series of courses or create a new course that addresses at least one of the four Global Engagement Student Learning Outcomes. If you are interested in applying for a GE Course Development Award, please contact Associate Provost for International Programs, Dr. Penelope Pynes at pjpynes@uncg.edu. Awards range from $500 to $1,000.

  • International and Global Service-Learning Course Development Awards - Awards are available for faculty to develop a course that incorporates globally-minded service-learning and addresses at least one of the Global Engagement Student Learning Outcomes. Awards range from $1,000 to $2,500.

    2017-18 Academic Year Deadlines: March 16 (summer exploratory trip); October 20 (winter exploratory trip)

  • Globally Engaged Undergraduate Research and Creativity Awards (GE URCAs) - Awards are available for faculty to undertake a scholarly project with an international component that incorporates undergraduate research. Travel is not required, but the project must increase global awareness. Awards include up to $ 5,000 in support of materials, travel and undergraduate researcher stipend.

    2017-2018 Academic Year Deadlines: February 11 (Summer II 2018), April 8 (Fall/Spring 2018/2019)

  • Kohler Awards - Kohler Awards, funded through the International Programs Center, support faculty international initiatives at UNCG. If you are interested in applying for a Kohler Award, please contact Associate Provost for International Programs, Dr. Penelope Pynes at pjpynes@uncg.edu. Funds must be requested no later than six weeks prior to the anticipated event or travel. Awards are $300 and up, depending on category.

    2017-2018 Academic Year Deadlines: September 15; October 20; January 19; March 16.

  • International Travel Fund (ITF) - The Provost's Office has created a fund to allow UNCG faculty to attend international conferences, present their work to an international audience and to interact with colleagues from other countries outside of North America. Awards are up to $600 in travel support.
